Romantic Getaways

Well, Valentine’s Day is quickly approaching and if you’re like 95% of the population, you’ll be struggling for a last minute idea to show your significant other you really do care.  Every year you think about doing something special, but in most cases the day slips by with the usual flowers and dinner thing.  But, there is a better way and it really takes only a little planning – it’s the romantic getaway.   No, stop right there.  Take your finger off the back button.

We’re not talking Cosmo Magazine Valentine getaway plan from hell scenario with rose pedals in the bathtub, dinner for two with a violinist and a walk down memory lane with a reproduction wedding at your honeymoon hotel.  This is simple and incredibly effective.  Go stay at a nice luxury hotel in a nearby city within a short drive or train ride.  Just pick up the phone or hop on the internet and make a hotel reservation.  Once that is done, you’ll be motivated to take care of a few of those pesky odds and ends – like kids and pets.  But once that is done, pack some overnight clothes and get the heck out of dodge.  You will be amazed how a simple change in venue and some civilized surroundings will restore your romantic side and rekindle the flame between you and your sweetheart.

Remember, the key to romance is the real you.  It’s about having a chance to focus on each other and rediscover who you are.  The rest is just window dressing.  So, when you’re looking for your romantic hotel, you should just look for a few key things which will make your stay enjoyable and hassle free.  Don’t get too bogged down in the details.  You don’t need perfection to have a perfect evening.  Here are a few romantic getaway planning tips:

1.        Shoot for a nice upscale hotel within your budget.
2.       Make sure there is a decent restaurant on the hotel premises or within a short walk.
3.       Make sure there is a bar or lounge for a nice after dinner drink.
4.       If they have a spa, and you want to splurge, go for a nice message with your significant other.
5.       If the hotel has a pool, sneak away for a nice evening dip, and
6.       Head back to your room and

…we think you know the rest.
